Thief takes $2.4 million yacht on wild ride through Seattle marina smashing other boats

    SEATTLE (KOMO) - A man tried to steal a multi-million yacht from Seattle's Chandler's Cove early Tuesday morning, ramming several other boats during his attempted getaway, according to Seattle Police.

    It was just around 4:30 a.m. when officers the man got onto the 92-foot yacht "New Atlantic". He managed to get it started and then rammed several other boats moored along Lake Union has he attempted to turn the boat around.

    The thief then jumped into Lake Union, where officers pulled him out a few minutes and took him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for evaluation. Officers say he'll eventually be booked into the King County Jail.

    The whole ordeal lasted about 15 minutes, police said.

    Detectives are still processing the scene and assessing the damage.

    The stolen yacht had been listed for sale with an asking price of $2.4 million.
