CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- CO.LAB, or The Company Lab, searched across the country for their new executive director, and they found who they were looking for right here in Chattanooga.
Marcus Shaw's resume is impressive. He went to business school at Duke, he worked on Wall Street, and "then moved into the non-profit world." Shaw said he most recently worked in Washington D.C. "with a non-profit called Management Leadership for Tomorrow where we focused on building diversity in corporate talent pipelines."
He's been on the job at Co.Lab for about three weeks. He says he wants to focus on growing diversity and inclusion in the start-up scene in Chattanooga.
"There is social good around diversity and inclusion. We benefit when we have more people not only being at the table, but feeling that they are as deeply involved with what's on the table as anybody else," Shaw said. "The more people that we have in our community that are benefiting from the outcomes of our community the better and more robust our community will be."
