Student-designed/built drone race coming to Red Bank High on Wednesday
RED BANK, Tenn. —
Mark your calendar - and your rotor blades! A student-designed, student-built drone racing obstacle course is coming to Red Bank High School on Wednesday.
The winning Public Education Foundation (PEF) Teacherpreneur project from last summer's Pitch Night, Drone Racing League, is bringing the race to the school.
PEF says where robotics clubs once dwindled, Teacherpreneurs Mary Manning and Drew Akins saw an opportunity for students to develop future-ready workforce skills through drone racing.
Manning and Akins are partnering with Greater Chattanooga Multirotor, a group of local hobbyists who drone race, to race students at the event.
Kate Skonberg with PEF says the racing course is portable, and the group is working to bring this fun, educational experience to more Hamilton County schools.
Red Bank High School students will have the race in the old gym on Wednesday, May 16th at 10:00 a.m.
