The Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management says they are opening an evacuation shelter at the Brainerd Youth & Family Development Center starting Thursday at noon.

The Disaster Animal Response Team will also be opening a pet shelter on site for anyone traveling with pets.

The American Red Cross is coordinating with Hamilton County to operate the shelter.

The HCDOEM says the best way to support disaster victims is with financial donations. They say donations allow them to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
