Family escapes fire that destroyed Hixson home Thursday night
HIXSON, Tenn. —
Officials say a fire that started in a Hixson garage quickly led to the home's destruction Thursday night.
It happened at 1626 Rock Bluff Road in the Hidden Harbor subdivision around 8:45 p.m.
Hamilton County EMS spokesperson Amy Maxwell says a woman at the residence asked her son whether anything was cooking.
According to Maxwell, when the man went to investigate, he found smoke in the garage.
The fire spread quickly, collapsing the roof of the house. Two men and the woman were able to get out safely.
Maxwell says the house is a total loss, but the family has insurance.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
