A Dunlap Fire Department chief was uninjured in an accident Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on Kelly Cross Road just past Davis Road around 4:30 p.m.

The fire department says Engine 3 was responding to a call about smoke at a home on Boston Town Road when it turned uphill onto Kelly Cross Road and left the roadway, ending up partially in a ditch.

Chief Hatfield was the only one on the truck, and was uninjured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene with Sequatchie County deputies.

The Dunlap Fire Department says Engine 3 is out of service until it can be repaired.
