CLEVELAND, Tenn. — UPDATE (Monday, Feb. 11th)
The Tennessee Highway Patrol released more information about the incident on Monday. Investigators say 20-year-old Brandon D. Smith of Chattanooga failed to stop for authorities, and drove off. Calhoun, Tenn. Police stopped the pursuit shortly after. Investigators say Smith continued and lost control on Michigan Avenue in Bradley County, striking two utility poles and ejecting all occupants.
Inside the car were 26-year-old Xavier Noland of Athens and 20-year-old Rosa Rodriguez of Cleveland.
Two victims were flown by life force and one transported by ambulance. The THP says charges are pending as this is still an active investigation.
NewsChannel 9 has confirmed that the Tennessee Highway Patrol is helping authorities investigate a crash that happened Wednesday morning on Michigan Avenue Road, just up the road from Michigan Elementary, and near the intersection of Old Tasso Road.
