A heavy police presence was on the scene of a deadly shooting outside Bayberry Apartments on Arlington Avenue Wednesday.

NewsChannel 9's Kayla Strayer spoke with police spokesman Rob Simmons about the incident.

Officer Simmons says officers responded around 5 p.m. to the Bayberry Apartments at 1100 Arlington Avenue.

Once on scene, police found a man had died from a gunshot wound outside of an apartment.

Simmons says that according to the preliminary report, an argument happened between the suspect and the victim before the shooting took place.

Police have not yet arrested anyone in this case.

"We have a lot of good leads on evidence that we are working with right now, and hopefully we can catch the person that's done this," Simmons said.

Neighbors looked on as the scene was being processed.

"This is a family environment. There are a lot of families that live in these apartment buildings. I'd imagine that a shooting outside would endanger potential children and other families in the area," says Simmons.

This is a developing story. Depend on us to update it as we learn more.
