It was fun in the sun Tuesday at Finley Stadium, and it was all for a good cause.

Around 40 people turned out from Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Chattanooga for the event called Beyond School Walls.

It was time out of school for the students, but it started with a quick lesson on electric currents.

The program is made possible by EPB and The Community Foundation.

For the kids, it was a chance to play.

“We’re out here just to have fun with our Bigs,” student Camren said.

For the adults, it was all about giving back.

“You can really change a persons life,” EPB’s Todd Edwards said.

For others, it was just about being there for someone to talk to.

“We’re not trying to replace a parent figure. Just trying to be that fun person who can have a smile on their face,” Big Sister Ansley Kellerman said.

But for everyone, it was about fun.

“Grannny, I know you’re going to watch the news tonight. You’re going to see DJ,” student DJ said.
