McKamey Animal Center is offering a $500 reward for information after the discovery of a seriously neglected dog found in the 2500 block of 6th Avenue in Chattanooga on Monday.

McKamey says the male dog was found wandering with a blue harness and a leash attached to him.

McKamey says the dog was extremely thin and weak.

The $500 reward is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person or persons involved with the neglect and abandonment of this dog.

According to Executive Director Jamie McAloon, ”Animal cruelty is a criminal offense in Tennessee and we take these cases very seriously. Someone knows who owned this dog and we intend to locate them for questioning.“

The dog, affectionately called Starbuck by the McKamey staff also suffered from untreated wounds that were infected and required immediate surgery.”

According to McAloon, Starbuck is recovering well from his two surgeries, however, due to the long term neglect, his physical condition will take much longer based on the deprivation of food over a long period of time.
