Homecoming for Bledsoe County coach Dennis Therrell
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. —
Dennis Therell is back home.
The well-traveled football coach has come back to Pikeville to lead the Bledsoe County Warriors.
Therrell has coached all over the country.
In the high school ranks, he's been at Alcoa High School, Campbell County and Rhea County to name a few.
In college, he was a grad assistant at Tennessee and made stops at MTSU, West Point, Auburn and UNLV.
He even spent some time in the professional United Football League.
In short, this coach has seen a lot of football. His specialty has been defense.
The Warriors are excited to play for such a coach. Junior tight end and safety Robby Ritchie said, "I'm pretty pumped. He definitely knows what he's talking about. He's going to bring a lot of help."
He also brings a degree of wisdom.
Therrell said he will not try to overhaul the system that was in place before his late arrival. He noted, "Good football coaches adapt their systems to the ability of their players."
