A Tennessee soldier gave his mom a huge surprise earlier this week.

Specialist John Saylor has been stationed at Camp Casey in South Korea for the past nine months.

Saylor says his mom thought he was due home next week. Little did she know, he'd get home a week early to surprise her at the Bass Pro Shops location in Bristol.

Saylor says he will have to go back to Camp Casey at the end of the month to finish his tour. He says he'll stay there until February, where he'll then go to Fort Bragg, North Carolina for his next duty station.

Saylor is trained as a mechanic. He has already demonstrated a good mechanical talent - just look at how he got his mom's tears flowing.

Before beginning active duty, Saylor was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at UTC.

Thanks to Saylor for sharing the video with NewsChannel 9, and we thank him for his service to our country.
