VIDEO: Officers describe rescue of family of 12 in Florida
(Sinclair Broadcast Group) —
Police in Fellsmere, Florida rescued 12 members of a family trapped by flooding caused by Hurricane Irma on Sunday night.
Officers told WPEC they had to navigate deep water, downed trees and fallen power lines to get to the home just outside the city. Once there, they waded through two feet of water to reach the family, most of whom were children under 12.
