Semi truck catches fire on I-24 E near Monteagle Tuesday, briefly shutting down traffic
MARION COUNTY, Tenn. —
A semi truck caught fire on Interstate 24 between Monteagle and Kimble Tuesday afternoon, prompting officials to temporarily close the eastbound side of the interstate.
The incident happened on I-24 E at Exit 143: Battle Creek Road in Marion County. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) received the report around 12:36 p.m. Central Time.
As of 3:21 p.m. ET Tuesday, I-24 E at Mile Marker 143 has been reopened.
Tennessee Highway Patrol say the semi truck was hauling plastic, and that no one was injured in the incident.
