A Gold Star Memorial - the first of its kind in all of Tennessee - was revealed in Chattanooga Friday afternoon.

The Gold Star is meant to honor the families of those lost in the line of duty, and the names of the five men who paid the ultimate sacrifice on July 16th, 2015 inspired this marker at the Tennessee River Park.

On July 16th, 2015, Staff Sergeant David Wyatt, Sergeant Carson Holmquist, Lance Corporal Squire "Skip" Wells, Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan, and Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith were killed.

Some of their families, friends, and a host of community members attended the public ceremony.

Mayor Andy Berke and Mayor Jim Coppinger were among several public leaders who presented the marker to Chattanooga.

Senator Bob Corker also spoke, as well as councilmen Anthony Byrd and Ken Smith.
