UPDATE (3:00pm):

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (T-DOT) says that the unscheduled repair to a pothole on Highway 27 has been completed and traffic has resumed as normal.

PREVIOUSLY:

Tennessee Department of Transportation (T-DOT) workers are working hard on an unscheduled repair on Highway 27 Monday morning, trying to nip a persistent pothole in the bud.

The repair site has closed the 4th Street exit in the southbound lanes - cutting off access to that exit.

Crews started work at 10:30 Monday morning.

T-DOT says during the repairs, the right lane on U.S. 27 South and the exit to 4th Street from U.S. 27 South will be closed.

Only the left lane will be open through the work zone, so motorists can expect delays entering downtown.

U.S. 27 South traffic wishing to access the downtown area will be detoured via MLK Blvd. T-DOT says the repairs will be completed by 3:00 p.m. Monday.
